Benjamin Wilson Arthur

"Fly Like an Eagle, be Brave True and Strong. Live Like You Mean it, Laugh All Day Long"

The Benjamin Wilson Arthur Spirit Award 501 (c) (3) was created in conjuction with The Posey County Community Foundation to honor our son who died in a hiking accident on October 1, 2006. Ben possessed many talents. He was a madcap, creative little boy who was a lover of science, physics, the outdoors, video games, and silly kid jokes. He was also a member of Brice's American Taekwondo Demonstration Team and had achieved his brown belt. After Benjamin died he was awarded an honorary black belt.

Ben also had several learning differences. He was an ADHD child with dysgraphia. Taekwondo improved his focus and discipline and provided a tremendous boost to his self esteem. It was his love of the sport that inspired us to create an award to serve third and fourth graders who also have any learning differences.

These scholarships will provide one year full tuition to Brice's American Taekwondo Association Black Belt Academy. All basic gear and uniforms are included. this will require the recipient to attend two classes each week and provide their own transportation to and from the classes. The West Side Brice's Academy is located on Pearl Drive beside Bob Evans. As a parent who undertook such a task, I understand the time constraints facing today's families. The benefits that Ben gained were tremendous. We were simply thrilled with his Taekwondo accomplishments. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
